The Rookie Marine explained from AVP 2010 (Aliens vs Predator)

The Rookie was an otherwise unnamed Private in the Colonial Marines Corps, he was part of the 1st Battalion, 3rd Regiment.
He was stationed aboard the USS Marlow, and dispatched to BG-386 in response to a Xenomorph outbreak at the Freya's Prospect colony and the nearby Weyland-Yutani facility.
His job in the Marines was a Combat Technician, and he carried a hacking device used to override security systems and access restricted areas.
He is characterised as being the strong silent type, and is fiercely loyal to his fellow Marines, often venturing into dangerous areas alone to rescue others, and was one of only two Marines to survive, alongside Corporal Teresa Aquila and an android named Katya.

He wears personalised armour customised with a skull and crossbones design, with the words "or GLORY” written underneath, meaning “Death or Glory”.

He was issued with a Pulse Rifle and a Pistol, but also used scavenged weapons he found including a Smart Gun, Flame Thrower and Sniper Rifle.



The Rookie was aboard a patrol ship preparing to land on BG-386 when a Predator vessel appeared nearby, and blew the Marlow in two. The shockwave rocked the ship, and a loose storage crate flew out and knocked him unconscious.

When he awoke, he found that he’d been left behind in an abandoned part of the colony as his squad fled due to a Xenomorph attack.
He received word from Corporal Tequila, that he should head for the centre of the colony, where the other Marines were regrouping.
He was successful, but the colony was immediately overrun by another Xenomorph assault, forcing him to retreat through the colony's sewer system. As he fled, he was attacked by a Drone and dragged away.

Fortunately, he was able to regain consciousness and kill the Drone.
After regaining contact with Tequila, she informed him that their commanding officer, Major Van Zandt, had last been heard from preparing to assault the Xenomorph nest inside the refinery.
Rookie went there to assist, but was too late, and the Marines had already been slaughtered, and Van Zandt cocooned and impregnated.
At his insistence, Rookie executed him, and then while escaping the refinery, he came face-to-face with the Matriarch, but managed to kill her.

He then headed into the surrounding jungle, encountering several skinned corpses, and fought acid spitting Xenomorphs, before Tequila arrived in the dropship to evacuate him. However, a nearby Predator shot the ship down before the pickup could be made.

Under the guidance of an administrative android named Katya, Rookie regrouped with some surviving Marines from the crash site, and acquired a Smartgun and fought off a large Xenomorph assault before heading out in search of the missing Tequila.
Deep in the ruins, He reached an ancient combat arena where he was confronted by the same Predator that had shot down the dropship earlier, and had been stalking him.
After a tense battle, Rookie defeated the Predator and rescued Corporal Tequila from a nearby Xenomorph nest, although she too had been impregnated by a FaceHugger, but Katya informed them that she could remove the Xenomorph if they could make it to the Weyland-Yutani research labs.

They reached Katya, who prepared to remove the Alien, but Weyland intervened and shut down the apparatus. Katya and Rookie placed her in a hypersleep chamber to prevent the birth of the Chestburster, and Rookie set off after Weyland, who was in the Pyramid beneath the labs; with his datapad, they could contact Weyland’s personal shuttle and use it to escape.

Heading towards the Pyramid, Rookie faced and defeated a Praetorian, and descended into the Pyramid entrance, where he battled another Alien horde.
He confronted Weyland but was caught off guard by combat androids, and had to defeat them.
After a fierce firefight with Weyland, Rookie defeated him, sending the android plummeting into the pool of lava, and claimed the datapad.
He barely escaped the self-destructing Pyramid and boarded the dropship with Katya and the frozen Tequila.
As they entered stasis, the dropship's pilots began transmitting information from Weyland's datapad about the Xenomorph homeworld to another android copy of Weyland.
