THE SCRAP OF PAPER in Final Fantasy VI (SNES) - Retrogaming Easter Eggs
537In Final Fantasy III for the SNES - also known as Final Fantasy VI for the Super Famicom - there's an INSIGNIFICANT EASTER EGG that can occur when you first make your way to the Returners' Hideout to meet Banon. I've been a big fan of FFVI since like 1994 and I never knew about this one.
After meeting Banon for the first time, there's a conversation where Banon describes the evils of the Empire and tries to convince Terra to join the Returners. Then he gives Terra some alone time to think about it.
While controlling Terra as the lone party member, if you check behind the conference table at the top right corner, you will find a "scrap of paper." Unrelated, but happy 4/20 everybody!
You can choose to toss the paper in the trash, and Terra will drop it in the bucket behind the table and that will be that.
But if you choose to PURPOSELY LEAVE THE PAPER ON THE FLOOR like a SECOND HAND LITTERER, there's an extra line of dialogue you can find. After speaking to all of your comrades, Terra can then meet Banon outside. Tell him you will be the Returners' "last ray of hope" and then the war room conference begins.
As Banon approaches the table, he will say "Who did this? Who left this piece of paper here?" Terra will become visibly embarrassed, too!
But, if say NO to Banon three times, you will skip the war room conference entirely, missing your chance to see the extra dialogue. This is unfortunate, because refusing Banon three times will earn your party a Genji Glove, which is like the best relic in the game.
