0The Slormancer is an absolutely amazing pixel art ARPG in development. It has a lot of charm and a great understanding of what makes a good ARPG - exciting loot, deep character customization for varied builds, good crafting, interesting poppy skills, and mechanics. This game isn't getting nearly as much attention as it deserves. If the developers can bring it to completion it has potential to be the next big indie game. The story needs fleshing out as it becomes quite redundant despite its somewhat self-awareness of this. The Slormancer has huge potential, not taking itself too seriously with ridiculous characters and funny dialogue.
It feels like it could be really fresh if done to completion, which is a rare trait for games of this kind. Everything seems to be a product of love, thus done beautifully. Map design is very intuitive and the destructible object in the environment makes the feel of the map more interactive. You will start of with the impression that you’re playing a roguelike like some “Rogue Legacy” (which is great) or “Enter the Gungeon” due to the “map cleaning” objectives. However, after an hour you realize it’s a real ARPG with complex character development trees and a ton of mechanics. You might definitely spend a few hours just investigating the synergies between attributes, skills, and a unique skill tree called “ancestral legacy”. Every skill you have levels up similarly to skills in D3 where you gradually add new synergies and make them stronger. Pop-up explanations for each skill are very intelligible and make progress easy to learn. Can't wait for full release of this Gem! Hope you enjoy my video.
