Freshly rested from our outside adventures after crash landing on the shore, I've awakened in a cave with a new forward vector. In the last Solus Project episode, I heard beautiful, yet strange noises coming from within this cave. Now I must find the source of the sound.
I've improved on the survival mechanics, getting accustomed to reading the Wilson device to monitor my calorie and water consumption levels. Just in time too as I'll need to do a lot of cave exploring the find my way through the various tunnels in search of the right path.
There is life in the cave. I pass a nesting ground full of large eggs, some of which have already hatched. But to which creature do they belong? Later on the gameplay, I cross paths with a collection of creatures that resemble sea urchins, but much louder. Though they seem to be more afraid of me than I of them. Did they come from the eggs?
To pass into the Cave of the Illuminated III, I must use a doll idol statue that's been placed upon a pedestal nearby to unlock a gate. Though The Solus Project is still in early access, the original concept of getting through here revolved around filling a pedestal with water, thus teaching users ways to carry water using empty water bottles. However, my save file was created before the puzzle was changed, and so I had no doll and no way to solve the puzzle. I was required to start a new game and work my way back to the cave gate.
If you thought the cave system was as deep as this rabbit hole goes, prepare to be amazed . Once you see what lies beneath, your jaw hit the floor. The Passage of Travelers I is a fitting name for the newly discovered area. But it does come with some perks: a resistance buff from a meteor to help with starvation and hypothermia!
