The swords in Lord of the Rings - Would they be practical in real life?
100,183Many people have asked for a video about LotR swords, so here it finally is. There is not all that much to say, and definitely nothing for me to rant about.
The designers did a good job of making these weapons look convincing. They are all well proportioned and neither overly thick nor afflicted by hand-slaying grips of discomfort, as opposed to many other fantasy swords. Many of them are somewhat reminiscent or even pretty similar to original swords from Antiquity, the Middle Ages or the Renaissance.
So... let's see how many pointless "it's just a movie" and "nobody cares about realism" comments there will be this time.
