The Tide Is High But I'm Holding On | Highwater (Post-Apocalyptic Story-Driven Survival Adventure)
239Highwater is an adventure game set in a post-apocalyptic world where some sort of climate disaster has happened and everything is flooded, so we travel around in a little boat, meeting people and helping out where we can!
In the world of Highwater the rich have barricaded themselves away in a walled town called Alphaville and they plan to leave the doomed Earth behind via the use of a gigantic rocket. The only thing is that everyone else has heard about this and they aren't happy, so dissent and rebellion is in the air and the non-rich folks are getting a bit fighty!
We play as Nikos, a young lad who has a cunning plan to sneak into Alphaville and board the rocket! Clever lad! However there is quite a journey to go on before we can even think about such things.
On our travels we pick up people to help them out or to have them come along as a member of our party. During combat, which is lovely and turn-based, we can use a number of different abilities, plus we can also use the environment against our enemies, so we can push rotten trees onto them or use a fishing rod to pull them off a ledge into the water.
We make our way toward Alphaville on our boat, gathering friends and supplies as we go, but it's not an easy journey, although there is a nice moment where we give a married couple a sheep and have a little dance.
Oh and the game features a FANTASTIC train pun. It is magnificent.
