All Hands On Deck | Stellar Orphans (Sci-Fi Survival Deck-Builder Game)
104Stellar Orphans is a sci-fi deck building game with a bit of a difference, because rather than building up a deck of combat-based cards like you would do in most deck builder games, in Stellar Orphans we build a deck to help us deal with social situations! One of the cards allows our people to have a nice hug!
We're in charge of a group of people aboard a spaceship which is adrift in space. We have our captain, some key crew and then a ship full of unnamed civilian type people.
Each day we draw a hand of cards which start off as crew members and some other minor cards like having a meeting, but will soon develop into all sorts of other things like armed militia, medical teams and the aforementioned hug, plus many more! Each card gives us points in certain categories, for example medical, psychological, repairs, that sort of thing, and they each cost action points to deploy.
Also each day we have to deal with some sort of event. Sometimes they're good, most of the time they're bad. We're talking power failures, corrosion, rebellions and virus outbreaks! Each crisis card requires us to spend a certain amount of points to deal with them but if we don't they clog up the ship and have negative effects. If we get too many then it's game over!
But also we have to worry about oxygen. And morale. And the condition of the ship. And floods. And fires. And lice (yes, really). Oh and it looks like Earth isn't there any more.
