I recorded the fight with the consent of the other party.

This is more or less a test for a ranked battle. Everything seems to work fine and dandy here. Also, as you can see, after a chain of events, my PC set has been upgraded to the point that I can finally play the game in max setting.

Reflection time:

I went random and the chance to get Shining Needle Castle (SNC for short) is a coin flip. Luck was on my side and I got them as my faction. However, I chose to go for Sekibanki N instead of Seija N, which was my favourite strategy during the online test last year and up to now. That said, I don't want to abuse Hyakki Yagyou (Parade of 100 Demons aka the SPAM button) and actually use someone else other than that Amanojaku so... yeah.

My first mistake of the match was to not gather enough Wood to build an extra house after getting a squad of Bows out. This forced me to cancel the worker to age up and lost some TC work time as I couldn't spare my time to harvest 29 wood and build a house as it would push my age up behind.

My second mistake of the match was to build the second Shining Needle Castle (Reversed) (SNC-R for short). Its 250 Wood cost slapped my economy quite hardly, not to mention that I can't keep constant production anyhow. Having that 250 Wood in the bank would allow me to get another Rock Grimoire and/or faster Market to build up my economy. I can always go for another SNC-R later, maybe during my H age up when I can actually spare some resources to do so.

My third mistake of the match was to lose 2 Rock Grimoires to workers as I promptly forgot that they are actually good against Grimoires. I should have recall my forces to block them to let the 2 books nuking the 2nd TC. On that note, after losing the Grimoires, I should have just retreated instead of continuing the assault as the 2nd TC gained a defensive attack after the 1st one was destroyed. But alas, I foolishly pushed on and, well, the match went on for a while.

My opponent is good at micro-management. Had I not scouted out their 2nd TC and decided to go for Rock Grimoire, I would have lost the match. To me, the only reason I came out on top was due to the fact that they didn't realise my Sword units are actually Fluffball Cavalries instead of Lancers, so they didn't mount a proper counter with Lancers of their own. They also made a big mistake when choosing Marisa N, an age up that focuses on Rock Grimoire rush like what I did, for their booming strategy instead of Reimu N or Alice N. With Reimu N, they would have had saved 200 Faiths for summoning her, or with Alice N, they would have a better defence line thanks to the cheaper Alice's Houses, the gathering boost, and the archer boost.

On their defence, the opponent told me that they wanted to see whether or not Marisa's Master Spark would be good against Grimoires. It doesn't, although against a bunch of weak units like SNC tools, it can deal some respectable damage (hence why I desperately moved my troops out of the Spark).

At the end of the day, it was a fun match. The game is still new so everyone is trying everything out. To me, that's the fun of RTS: to try and combine whatever you have with whatever you know against your opponent. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, try to find why it doesn't work and retry,
