Intros are an incredibly powerful tool in game design, which can not only catch the player's interest but also prepare them to best experience the game ahead. They're elegant, multi-purpose tools that seem to have fallen out of fashion a bit lately, so I figure I'd talk about their merits a bit.

Also, hey, yeah, still alive. Sorry, my schedule has been kinda thrown off from taking care of the new puppy, so I missed last week's video as well. Thankfully, should be getting easier soon as I won't be the only one watching him next week, which hopefully means I'll have energy for other stuff. Thinking the weekly schedule will be consistent again going forward, but I guess we'll see.

That aside, this week's video. Wanted to talk about intros broadly, so I didn't focus in too much on OoT specifically here, but it really is a masterclass in design. Honestly, I still feel bad putting my voice over it, just feels wrong. I had to resist the temptation in editing to drop my audio to 0 and just leave the game, lol.

Still, have intros actually gotten rarer or is that just me? I feel like minimalism is the design du jour, and kinda miss them being the norm. Always appreciate a good intro, from the iconic mood of OoT, to the rocking tunes of Karma (Tales of the Abyss). Feels like the perfect way to take a moment to match pace with the game.

Well, whatever the case, thanks as always for taking the time to listen to my nonsense. And till next time, take care out there.
