Well, this took a little longer than expected. Wanted to make sure I properly understood the flow here, but between that and production perfectionism, ended up a day late. Ah, well. Nothin’ for it at this point.

Anyway, Helen’s Mysterious Castle. A game with a surprising amount to talk about.

There’s the battle system which I outlined here, but couldn’t really get in depth with. I tried to, but there was no way I was explaining the systems themselves properly in under a minute, much less without detracting from the main point of the video, so I had to trim a lot of that. Still, really unique overall, not just in its deterministic design.

Also, the game has quite a bit of heart. I found myself really loving the characters, and was bought in on the story. It’s not super long, (though longer than I expected/planned for, whoops) but it is super charming. Not to mention there’s even a bit of postgame content. Obviously, hard to say much more without spoiling, but I quite liked it.

Anyway, not much more to say here, I think. Unless you wanna hear me complain about how much I hate recording myself for the next hour. But that’d be cruel and unusual punishment, so I’ll just call it for this week.
