There's nothing like a good cliffhanger, to be held on the edge of your seat just as you thought the fun was over, with nothing left but expectations for what's wrapping it all up in a big red bow. The wait would be excruciating yet exhilarating. And once it was over, it was a feeling of completion unlike any other, two journeys fractured but whole.

Not held back by consuming your precious hours diligently telling its tale, it brings about two opportunities for a great time on your own terms...if done right. Sadly, only a handful of two parter movies have utilized this correctly, with the rest riddled with a nagging sense of dragging runtimes and over-indulgent story progression fueled by nothing but corporate greed.

At times the intention behind these tendencies can be benign but no matter the motivation, execution is always the key, yet no one can use it to unlock the door to success. And after what we've seen, I'd like for the key to be thrown away for good. Why?

Well let's look back at what gave birth to this occurrence and see how it's still impacting the filmmaking climate of today so that I can give you a little insight into my reasoning.
