Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 "next-gen" versions will be released in the first half of 2022, according to CD Projekt's quarterly earnings statement. A "huge upgrade for all platforms" for Cyberpunk 2077 will be released alongside the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X editions of the open-world action-adventure game, according to the publisher-developer.
The next major update for Cyberpunk 2077, as well as new console versions, will be released in the first quarter of next year, according to Adam Kiciski, president and joint CEO of CD Projekt. That's a little more detail than CD Projekt provided just a month ago, when it announced that all Cyberpunk 2077 updates had been pushed to 2022.
Between April and June 2022, The Witcher 3's next-gen update, which promises graphic changes and new items inspired by the Netflix series based on the Witcher books, will be released.
CD Projekt also has "ongoing work" on a Cyberpunk 2077 expansion. "At the same time, we continue to change our studio, which is influencing an increasing number of production teams," Kiciski stated.
Cyberpunk 2077 was released on December 10, 2020, although it was notoriously problematic. The PlayStation 4 version of Cyberpunk 2077 was eventually removed from the PlayStation Store, but the title was later added again.
More than ten patches for Cyberpunk 2077 have been released by CD Projekt Red, addressing many of the game's issues. The developer had previously stated that "many updates and improvements" would be available in 2021, including free DLC and a next-generation console update. Some of the free DLC, in the form of quest options, animations, and more cosmetic items, was included in Patch 1.3, which was published in August.
