Twenty-three crew and passengers who died when their Royal Air Force Dakota transport plane came down over southern Germany in September 1944 have been honoured at the crash site.

It follows painstaking archaeological research to pinpoint exactly where the aircraft hit the ground.

Now a permanent memorial has been unveiled at the site and witnessed by families and representatives from the UK, Canada and Australia.
