The image used within the video has two meanings. The first is a sort of symbolism for the group that originally made this song (The Beach Boys). The second is that the sunset in the distance is meant to symbolize the year coming to an end.

2018 was a very hard and awkward year for me. My mother lost her best friend, and she also lost her uncle (my grand-uncle, my last grand-anything). As if that weren't enough, my dog of 10 years also passed away this year, and that time in particular was a time of much sorrow for my entire family.

For me as well, I dealt with depression pretty frequently for the better half of this entire year, and it took a lot of action, determination, and dedication on my part to both deal with it and eventually get over it.

There were a fair amount of friends I lost this year, too, whether due to arguments online, or some old friends graduating and moving somewhere else.

Nonetheless, if I had to summarize my experience with this year into a theme, it was definitely perseverance. I had to keep pushing myself forward, up and onward, no matter what happened. I nearly cracked a few times under the pressure.

But here I still am, to this day, and I'm glad for it.
