Days Gone is the typical game where you sit down for a while.
A hefty single player campaign with a delightful story evolution,
one where you start eating before noon and before you realize it is suddenly much too late for dinner and then you have fast food delivered to your home.
The story starts as follows, an evacuation helicopter only has a limited number of places available and only 2 of the 3 can go with the helicopter.
It is then decided to evacuate only Sarah and to live together with his buddy Boozer as a secluded existence in the North American forests and I suspect also to get back to Sarah.
While it's not always easy, the duo dodge the Freakers most of the time, doing odd jobs on their bikes for nearby survivor camps, providing plenty of useful items.
One day, however, Boozer is seriously injured in an attack by the deranged Drifter clan. Suddenly Deacon is on his own. Luckily it's a tough rascal!
Fair is fair: Days Gone is not a zombie hack and slasher, but rather a survival story of an individual in an apocalyptic zombie outbreak.
That doesn't mean that the story isn't well put together!
However, the best thing about Days Gone is its raw, living world. The map isn't even that big, but because there's a quest marker everywhere, it never feels boring or empty. Even the filler content is perfectly integrated.
There are Freaker nests that you must smoke out for fasttravelling, settlements of the evil Nero co-op that contain a health or stamina upgrade, and more collectibles than a hoarder's house.
It's usually best to avoid confrontation because bullets are scarce and your melee weapons will break after just a few hits. In this way you constantly consider whether it is worth the effort to attack. Fortunately, there is a well-functioning stealth system in the game.
