If you wanted to be nitpicky, the clientside demo shots are still slightly earlier than when the crosshair actually intersects the target, but it's a way more accurate representation than Theater mode, where the shot literally goes off before the drag in both cases.

Human perception threshold for timing issues is roughly 50ms (and even smaller if the timing issue disrupts a very rapid, consistent rhythm i.e. automatic weapon fire). Theater mode goes off by much higher values than that at times.
