I've been wanting to do something like this ever since I played Mirror's Edge the first time through - I had music off and my own Trance playlist playing through the entire game and it melded with the somewhat surreal nature of the game so well. When the Layering assignment came around I knew I had the perfect game already picked out for me. :P

For the past few assignments I've been guilty of overscoring and building tracks that are too cluttered to serve properly as BGM. This time around I tried to take as minimalist an approach as possible to see what happens.

One thing I'm finding out in hindsight, though, is that you can score very few elements yet can (and should!) write a whole bunch of different sections so that it doesn't sound like an 8-bar repeating loop, like this one does after a few minutes. :P This is definitely another assignment I wish I had more time to work with; maybe I'll revisit the music later and turn it into something listenable outside an interactive environment.
