On the morning of the 19th, a fire broke out at a waste collection site on the Kochi University campus, burning wood, electrical appliances, and other materials. No one was injured.
According to the police and fire department, a Kochi University associate called the fire department just before 11:00 AM on the 19th, reporting flames and smoke coming from the waste collection site.
The fire burned some of the wood, electrical appliances, and other waste stored at the site, and was extinguished approximately 30 minutes later. No one was injured.
The fire occurred at a collection site on the southwest side of Kochi University's Asakura Campus grounds, and according to school officials, the site was locked when the fire broke out. Furthermore, according to the police, there were no reports of anyone witnessing someone burning trash prior to the report. Police are currently investigating the exact cause of the fire.
