Electronic Arts and Marvel Games have formally announced the second Marvel game of their partnership, which they first unveiled last year. The inaugural game they presented was Iron Man, currently under development by Motive—the studio behind the Dead Space Remake. The second game just brought to light by EA and Marvel will revolve around Black Panther.

This game's existence was initially leaked last year by industry insider Jeff Grubb, but now with the official announcement, we have a bit more context. Marvel Games tweeted out a video announcement accompanied by some captivating artwork for the impending superhero game that will be set in Wakanda.

Black Panther is being developed by a new AAA development studio based in Seattle known as Cliffhanger Games. It's a narrative-driven third-person single-player action game, and while it hasn't been confirmed, it's likely that the game will also be developed using Unreal Engine 5.

The project is being spearheaded by Kevin Stephens, formerly of Monolith Productions—the studio currently working on Wonder Woman and most well-known for Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. He will be collaborating with industry veterans who've worked on everything from Call of Duty to God of War.

They didn't divulge much more about the game, other than it's in the early stages of development. However, according to Jeff Grubb's leaks, the game's concept is to tell an original story where you play the newly crowned king of Wakanda—a character you can fully customize. This suggests T'challa may not even be alive in this game world.

However, as the game's release is quite far off, this could certainly change between now and the release date, which will likely be no sooner than 2026.
