TheZeroEquals Gaming - Far Cry 3 - The Zero Hour Play!
Widely seen as the point in which the Far Cry franchise hit its stride. We move back into the jungle and are instantly faced with a story-scenario you just know is going to go downhill. Lofty characters and overtly gratuitous partying can only lead to horror in most cases. The introduction of Vaas Montenegro as the game's pivotal villain (played by Michael Mando) was a stroke of genius that to this day is an exclamation point that resonates even now years down the road.
The writing in this game feels stepped up. Gone were most of the typical tropes that plagued the initial releases and instead we have a setting teeming with dangerous wildlife, aggressive enemy AI and more complex crafting and skills systems.
There's too much included here to go over on a granular level, but its clear that Far Cry 3 showed Ubisoft's full commitment to the franchise and to setting the bar high enough to ensure its success.
