This Game is Pure Arcade Action | Sin and Punishment: Star Successor | Stages 0 - 2
Treasure is one of my favorite video game developers from the 90s into the 2000s. The key members of Treasure were originally ex-Konami devs who were tired of making sequels and didn't think they were able to express their creativity. Eventually, they wanted to make unique action games so they broke off from Konami to start Treasure. What they're most commonly known for is pushing the limits of every console they made games for with innovative sprite work and animation as well as inventive gameplay mechanics.
Sin & Punishment: Star Successor is no different. Originally released for the Wii in 2005, it was a sequel to the cult Japan-only N64 title simply titled Sin & Punishment. The action in this game is a blend of gallery shooter mechanics and character action third-person movement. The result is a rollercoaster-like ride that is as hard as it is fun.
Here I play through stages 0-2 on Normal difficulty, which if you've played a Treasure game before you know that Normal really means Hard and Hard means Extra Hard. I wanted to make it through with no continues but alas, the stage 2 boss caught me slippin'.
