REVIEW:
What if you took an arcade rail-shooter, gave it a horror theme, and put it into VR?

Well, you’d have Switchback VR - and its concept sounds like a recipe for success.

But this actually isn’t the first game that this developer has created using this idea.

Back in 2016, Supermassive Games released Rush of Blood for the PSVR, a game that I loved.

You’re on a horror-themed roller coaster with guns in each hand: it’s the kind of thing that VR was meant for.

And Switchback VR is just more of that!

But I don’t know, maybe the 2nd time experiencing a game like this just can’t have the same novelty as the 1st, because, honestly, although I liked Switchback, I just didn’t love it like I expected to.

The gameplay is solid, but, besides a lot of jump scares, it just wasn’t that scary.

The levels are themed after each of the Dark Pictures games, and having played all those games, I enjoyed the references, I guess, but I definitely would have preferred to see some new, potentially more frightening environments.

Switchback VR kind of fails in my mind, because it just doesn't hardly bring anything new to the table for longtime fans of Supermassive Games.
