When you don't upgrade weapons you miss out on the stats the upgrade gives but more importantly you lose out on skills. That means my Axe and Blades only have level one skills. The Spear starts at level 5 when you get it so I only have the level 5 skills for it. Since I'm using only the starter gear I'm using the Survival set and the Guardian Shield which is level 4 when you get it back from the Dwarfs.
Thor in Asgard is a great fight. Its a great balance of difficulty and fun. The only part that has cheap stuff in it is phase 3. The hazards on the ground seem completely random and you can end up stepping in one behind you without ever knowing it was there. Thor can also push you in one as well. But other than that its a pretty good fight. The true challenge for me came from doing it in a single segment without Rage or Relic uses.
In this fight I used all 9 Burdens and all the starter gear. I did this fight again with all 9 Burdens and all the Spartan gear including the Aspis shield. I think I am going to do that for most fights. You can go a lot harder with the starter gear because of the Guardian shield being a easier to use shield.
