Three Sylvester Stallone Movies That Are Better Than You Think
In the mid-nineties, the legendary Sylvester Stallone went through a rough time in his career. Several ambitious films underperformed at the box office, and by the decade's end, it seemed he was no longer the superstar he once was. Of course, he launched a major comeback in the mid-2000s, starting with Rocky Balboa, but some of the movies he made that failed are worth revisiting.
Assassins: Sly stars opposite Antonio Banderas and Julianne Moore in this hitman tale written by the Wachowskis and directed by the late, great Richard Donner.
Daylight: Sly's entry into the disaster film genre was a sizable flop in 1996 but holds up well all these years later and contains some excellent pyrotechnics and stunt work.
Get Carter: Stallone's remake of Michael Caine's classic Get Carter was ill-advised, but it's still a fun nineties-style crime thriller that ends with a great mano-a-mano fight between Sly and Mickey Rourke.
