I have been holding off on making Throne and Liberty content in the hopes of being able to report a updated official release date. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like that is coming anytime so the best I can do for you right now is October of this year. Earlier this month, Business Korea released a story Throne and Liberty has been delayed from the June release. The same story said that T&L remains the “most anticipated PC Title for the Firm in a long time” and was the first outlet to mention the delay in release schedule to Quarter 3 of 2023.
Moving away from May June was probably a smart move to avoid the release of Diablo IV. Unfortunately, it has some frustration as the game will now be 18 months past its release date.
This statement has now been confirmed by NCSoft, saying that they have set a new target for a global simultaneous release in October in addition to another round of beta testing from May 23 to May 30 with registration starting on May 2. Now some sources, including the official Beta Test Announcement, are saying this is going to be a Korea Test only, but others are reporting this is going to be a North American test as well in conjunction with Amazon Games, who is the Western Publisher.
I would say it would be odd for Amazon not to run some sort of Beta, if nothing else from a marketing perspective, so if there is a confirmed Western beta test, I will push that out on my channel, So, this is a good time to subscribe if Beta Testing is something you want to get involved in.
As far as monetization is concerned, we are still waiting for the final answer for how the game is going to be monetized. The big fear people have is that NCSoft will ruin a solid product with over monetization in the form of a power-granting cash shop.
Finally, I am really hoping that NCSoft has taken this long delay to upgrade to Unreal Engine 5, however, I’m going to guess that that hasn’t happened which is really a shame as moving to the new engine before launch could have opened a ton of opportunities for future development.
