GAME COMMENTS
I wanted printing press because Shakespeare was in the pool, but both printing presses appeared late and I didn't have any CA to take them. Luckily Confucius gave me a bunch of early science.
Taking Himeji for 4 CA was a huge error. I didn't realise he had Great Wall under construction. It was a loss of 2 CA and a number of rocks, worse than getting hit by "Call to arms".
In Age II (21 civil cards left in deck), I was highly tempted to take Shakespeare and Journalism. I think it was also a strong consideration to take Republic and research it, then take Shakespeare and Journalism, but it gives Ocean Liner to him. So I decided to forgo it and take Ocean Liner (pressuring his food since he was still on Agriculture) and get Scientific Method later (which can't be denied because there are 2 copies).
In the same turn, I also had to look up the end of turn sequence rules to see the order of corruption/consumption/production because I was so short on blue cubes (if you don't have enough blue cubes, the extra production is wasted).
Drew only one Age II tactic, and one of the worst ones, Conquistadors. Luckily it was enough.
Himeji put me in a great position defensively, and Republic allowed me to snatch more resource yellows in Age III to defend against his eventual attacks.
The Freedom of Movement defense at the end was the cherry topping.
