Known as "Fantasy Saga System Vol. 1: Adventure of Tignas" or "FSS" in simple terms, TnB is the prequel to "Algarna" (or "Fantasy Saga System Vol. 2: Algarna"). It was presented in the early 90s by M.N.M Software and it uses the same engine as Algarna, though simplified (no "Aura System" or "cutscenes" and a generally more generic feel). It deals with the trials of Tignas, a promising warrior from the town of Seripone, who goes on a quest by the order of his king to stop the evil monsters around the land and learn of the "stone curse" spreading across the neighboring areas (which is, in part, being caused by Medusa).

While the game is an ARPG, it is less action orientated compared to Algarna, instead having a greater emphasis on character interactions and the illusion that the world is "living" as characters move about at different times of day, do various activities throughout the town, and occasionally experience changes in the time of day or weather. The few instances in which you do fight are poorly paced and there are segments where you can just build your character to max level within minutes (where you'd actually think you were about halfway through the game but are really near the very end), so this game is more about its characters and dialogue than anything else. Quite frankly however, I find this game boring and the music is way too limited; you'll hear the same upbeat tune in pretty much every town and outside area you go to (barring moutain areas and caves). The game doesn't even have a real final boss either and just comes off as uninspired, though I guess the devs tried. Algarna is better in nearly every way (and has music by Yuzo Koshiro, which is a plus). We have a game sample and endgame video. Enjoy.
