70Every major city in the U.S. follows the same pattern. At the core, there's a large urban landscape comprised of mixed-use architecture and mid to high-rise buildings densely packed together. As you pan out from the center of the city you'll find lower-density buildings with larger plots of land. This is common in cities around the world. What is unique to America is the suburbs. In the U.S. and its neighboring nations, mainly Canada, you'll find a suburban sprawl. Suburbia has become almost synonymous with the American way of life over the last 70 years. But, is it the right way to build a city? As the years have gone by and we've watched this great suburban experiment unfold, it would appear that the suburbs are doomed to fail.
