Tim Willits is a prominent figure in the video game industry, known for his long career at id Software as a level designer, creative director, and studio director for titles like Quake, Doom, and Rage. After leaving id Software in 2019, he became the Chief Creative Officer (CCO) at Saber Interactive.

The main controversy surrounding Tim Willits was his 2017 claim of inventing deathmatch-only maps for Quake, which was met with immediate denial from John Romero, John Carmack, and other id Software veterans who stated the concept existed in other games and Doom prior to Quake.

American McGee further labeled Willits a "serial credit thief," leading to significant backlash against Willits for taking credit for a concept developed by others.

Tim reflects on these claims and what really went down at id Software in this open and highly charged interview.

While listening to how Tim Willits impacted both DOOM and Quake, enjoy a playthrough of Quake 2.
