Welcome to "Time Tricks!" Here, you'll find step-by-step instructions on how to easily recreate some of the coolest looking speedrunning tricks to some of your favorite games!
Today's episode covers 2 of the most iconic NES speedrunning tricks: the "Screen Scroll" and the "Block Clip" in "The Legend of Zelda". A crucial part of Z1 speedrunning and randomizer play at the most competitive levels, they not only save time, but allow you to warp past enemies and obstacles, sequence breaking small portions of Zelda, both saving you time AND keeping you safe... and lest we forget, you'll look pretty swaggy pulling these off for your friends :)
This trick works in every known version of Z1 (not counting the Satellaview version) including the NES Classic and Switch! I recommend putting a piece of tape or some sort of marker on the pixel until you can recognize it better, but that's optional (not everyone likes that trick). I also recommend using a D-Pad over an analog stick, though it IS possible to do this on a stick or a keyboard. Good luck pulling off this time trick!
