TimeShift - RPCS3 TEST
9Testing TimeShift in RPCS3, the Playstation 3 emulator for Windows PC. This is the first time trying the new shader cache method for me. As you can see now the shader cache loads while you're playing. That might be fine for Vulkan, but OpenGL doesn't load the shaders fast enough. For these videos, I will only new use the new shader cache method with Vulkan in the future. OpenGL I will disable it and just let the shaders load and then I can cut that out in editing. This video I hacked it up quiet a bit. I don't usually (actually I've very rarely done this) do it because I want you to get a feel for the emulation. Generally I only cut out loading screens. The last 2 minutes between 10-12 minutes you can see some footage after pausing the game and leaving it for 5-10 minutes so as to allow the shader cache time to catch up before beginning to play again. The gun and many other textures are loaded at that point. I'll say this again, I will not be using this method for games that require OpenGL in the future. That's not to say I'm recommending one way or another but my personal footage for these videos I will not use this method. I want to show the emulation at it's best IF at all possible while also maintaining some form of 'it is what it is'. Letting it properly load the shaders and then cutting that loading time out will make the videos more entertaining to watch. It's a balancing act I play of 'it is what it is' and what's entertaining to watch.
