Timesplitters - PS2 - Story Mode - Full Playthrough
A complete playthrough of Timeplitters story mode. This was a PS2 exclusive launch title and as such is one of the first in a long line of FPS games available for the system (although backwards compatibility meant that there were also over 40 FPP games on PS1 you could play on launch if you wanted).
Developed by Free Radical Design, with ex members of Rare on their team you can see the DNA of Goldeneye in this game. I'm personally not a fan of Goldeneye but the TS series does fix a lot of it's problems. Known for it's fast frenetic and tight shooting the series went from strength to strength culminating in Timesplitters 3: Future Perfect which is probably one of the best FPS titles from that generation. This first entry is very bare bones though, it's story mode is just 9 short stages with the same objective in each, find an item then escape. There are no cutscenes, no story, not even an ending and credits, just the levels and that's it. Though to be fair the title does feature offline multiplayer and a set of challenges, neither of which interested me at the time as I was all about the campaign.
The stages are well designed though and the game is fun while it lasts. Things are kept interesting by setting the levels in different time periods with appropriate weapons and enemies in each. This is a VHS recording of the game I made back in the early 2000s and just shows my first and only time beating each stage.
