I'm not an Ecologist. My name is not Kruglov. My job is to infiltrate the Ecologist Faction and make them believe, that I am one of them. I will look like one of them. I will act like one of them. I will live like one of them. I have to do it the hard way. This is the Exclusion Zone, and it takes your full attention, talent and wit, just to be able to survive. If you lack any of those, you won't last very long. When someone calls for Kruglov, I will answer to it. I am the Tinker.

Encrypted Diary: As I watched the Loners descend into the lower basin, I continued to survey my surroundings in all directions. When I realized they were getting beyond visual sight, I ran after them to join them. Better to explore a new territory with a squad that seemed to know where they were going. When I crossed the lower basin and was back up on top of the pipeline on the other side, I found them in a gully but turning around I spotted a Burer to the north-east that had just entered the swampy area north of the Skadovsk. I still needed a Burer hand, so I changed direction.

I ran back to the Skadovsk for the safety of its metal structure and elevated view. When I was onboard, I expected the Burer to be slowly crossing the lower basin but instead I found it making very fast across the bow of the ship, where I immediately joined in shooting at it. The Burer zigged zagged on the slope and then slipped away from view. I went after it, but I went for the high ground above it. As I was on the road by the Forestry, I heard mutant growls behind me, so I descended down to a large boulder for cover, but that diversion made me lose tracking it.

To the south I saw headlamps that I quickly identified as a Duty squad. They were fighting Bloodsuckers, so I joined in the fight. When I got to their position, in addition to the dead Bloodsucker, I found the Burer dead, still standing upright in the water. I got my hand. The Dutyers didn't offer any jobs I wanted and once I realized they were going towards the Recycling Plant, I quickly checked their relations with the Mercenaries. I was quickly impressed the Dutyers had good relations with every Faction but the Monolith.

I grabbed a couple of artifacts at a nearby anomaly than was like a deep scar in the hillside. After that I ascended the hill and went up to the Recycling Plant. There I expected to find the dozen or so Mercenaries that I had left there when we first arrived. To my surprise there was no one there. I thought the Mercenaries must have left and when I got closer a Snork came out the building and attacked me.

Then I saw a dropped rifle on the ground. Just a few feet away was another. Searching the grounds, I found a third rifle and I suddenly realized the Mercs had died where each rifle was on the ground. The mutants must have dragged the bodies away. When I checked my PDA Map, I realized the Merc job at the Iron Forest was no longer listed. I do remember a message about the Mercs calling for help from a Psydog attack, but I was busy with chasing the Burer and figured they could more than handle any Psydogs with their large numbers. Apparently, I was wrong. Soon the Dutyers arrived and made camp.
