Presentation given by Matthew Michaud, Shankar Ganesh, John Aycock, Katie Biittne & Carl Therrien of University of Calgary, MacEwan University & Université de Montréal at The Interactive Pasts Conference 3 on May 25 2023.

John and Katie discuss the Channel F console, developed by Fairchild. The console, developed in 1976, was sold for just a short period, but introduced game cartridges in the modern sense to the gaming scene. They look at console and game production from a behind-the-scenes perspective, drawing on material from engineer Jerry Lawson's archived papers, as well as a technical analysis of selected games from the corpus. The latter makes use of an AI-driven system we have built which automatically plays games to exercise their code as we gather data from them.
