The latest Cloverfield film surprised us all when its brilliantly simplistic trailer appeared less than two months before release and revealed the movie’s name to the public for the first time. The internet can seem flooded with so much pre-release news that most of us talk about things being overhyped or giving too much away. The collective “they made another Cloverfield movie?!” response was great. Let’s appreciate the decision to market this movie with “less is more”. Clearly, Paramount Pictures learned a valuable lesson when they released Psycho 56 years ago — and director Dan Trachtenberg is clearly a student of directors like Hitchcock.
