Here's another new custom event, done at the request of Ebolaman131. This one covers a hypothetical outcome of a "successful" Post-George Wallace USA, in which a certain Claiborne Washington "Clay" Smothers, I, becomes President.

In OTL, Clay Smothers (1935-2004) was not only an alternate delegate for George Wallace in the 1972 Democratic National Convention (as well as a member of the Texas House of Representatives), he was also a rather ardent Wallace loyalist...which undoubtedly raised eyebrows among his peers and hounded him for the rest of his life. In TNO, that would still remain consistent, and would reflect how much the infamous Governor of Alabama has changed (should the "good" outcome play out). On the other hand, given how Smothers entertained the idea of LGBT segregation, he might wind up unexpectedly fulfilling his mentor's original, repudiated campaign promises. Still, compared to certain other potential outcomes, at least it's still not Yockey and Hall torture hour.

For trivia, the music used is "Elegia" by New Order ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QCNb3t1NlTg ), with the voice heard being from a speech by Smothers himself in Georgia on "forced busing" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmgUjvPAwxg ). While the haunting clip at the end is from an American Experience documentary feature on George Wallace in the late '90s, which coincidentally contains some of the last recorded footage of the man ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMva835Hd9I ).
