TNO Custom Series: A Place Outside Heaven (A Visual Chronicle)
After much time, and trial-and-error, here's a new TNO visual chronicle! This one being based on my recent "A Place Outside Heaven" map series, featuring Mitchell WerBell III's West Alaska/United States of Russia ( https://www.deviantart.com/mdc01957/art/TNO-A-Place-Outside-Heaven-890461070 ).
Needless to say, this path (whether it's the more benevolent "Cincinnatus" USR outcome, or the more ruthless "Caesar" scenario) is heavily inspired by not only the exploits of mercenaries and PMCs during the Cold War, but also the Metal Gear franchise, in all its surreality. Towards the end, this even extends to how it could develop Walker Gears, Sahelanthropus, and potentially other MGS-tier tech, if not the war economy. That the real WerBell (1918-83) has a backstory comparable to Big Boss himself ( https://www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?https://www.rockislandauction.com/riac-blog/weapons-of-mitch-werbell-iii ) certainly helps, though unlike in Hideo Kojima's saga, he remained loyal to America and never built his own mercenary-state.
For some added trivia, the music used is a mix of the MGS 3: Snake Eater theme ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDY-PxP-2CU ), Warren Zevon's "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUO9ikz63vA ), and "Sins of the Father" as sung by Donna Burke ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzmLL6-fYOY ).
And yes, the clip at the start is from an old documentary, featuring the real WerBell himself ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVHQ8bOC4gg ).
Hope you get to sit back, enjoy and remember this proverb: this war is peace.
