4What if someone made the very FIRST fantasy 4X game? Well they did, and it's awesome, and you should try it!
Master of Magic was originally released back in 1994, and looked and played remarkably similar to Sid Meirs classic hit Civilization 1, but in a high fantasy world similar to that of the fantasy movies of the time such as Willow '88 or Legend '85.
It was an incredibly deep game that helped spawn a whole generation of genres including Master of Orion and the space opera 4X, as well as many imitators like Heroes of Might and Magic and Age of Wonders who both went on to have multiple iterations of their original releases.
Sadly Master of Magic never got a proper squeal, and was left to the annals of history until recently. Publisher Slitherin Ltd acquired the rights to MoM and announced a remaster would be coming to PC scheduled for late '22 and made by the fellows at MuHa games who created such masterpieces as Thea and Thea 2. They also finally released an official windows compatible Classic version of the game that comes with the Caster of Magic Community game mod as official DLC for the long absent title.
The Nose dives back into his past as he take a second look at one of his childhood favorites, and is left in awe of a game that has often been imitated but never duplicated in all his long years of gaming. Master of Magic!
