In 1996, Id Software released Final Doom, a pair of Doom 2 IWADs--TNT Evilution and The Plutonia Experiment--made by members of TeamTNT. TNT Evilution was actually meant to release as a free download, but John Romero swooped in the night before its planned launch and offered to have Id Software publish it.

At the time, TNT was considered impressive thanks to being a full 32 map replacement with massive and detailed maps. Nowadays it's seen as a mixed bag, partly because of said massive maps. Personally, I like TNT better than most. It has some really rough parts for sure, but it has some excellent maps like Wormhole and Pharoah. Overall, I'd say it's at least worth a playthrough.

As far as this playthrough? When recording playthroughs of Doom, I like to avoid savestates so I can present a legit run. However, some of TNT's maps are so huge and so cheap that I may have to break that rule a few times. I don't want to spend 48 hours attempting a perfect playthrough of Mount Pain, I have to go outside and touch grass at some point in my day!

Anyways, the first map of TNT isn't too hard. It's basically a remixed version of Doom 2's Entryway, including a similar outdoor area. You start off with only a berserk pack too, which is pretty fun. There is a trap involving Chaingunners on the way to the blue key, which is pretty surprising for a first map. This is a harbinger of TNT's favorite thing to spam: hitscanners, especially Chaingunners, in spaces where you can't really avoid them. It's not bad here, but later maps get pretty insane with them.
