TOEI Animation will Use AI for THIS!
Don't you just hate it being an animator for a Japanese company? You're going to hate it even more if you're working with TOEI animations, because according to their official site, they are planning to use AI in the future. That already sounds pretty horrifying to begin with, but don't worry. They're not going to use AI to make horrific monstrosities conjured by computers. They're only going to use AI for specific tasks that can be automated.
What are those tasks, exactly? Storyboard creation coloring. Last time I checked, story boards don't need color. They just need to give you a picture frame of what happens in that story. That's for the final product.
The next one is automatic correction of Genga and in-between frames. I want to see how they implement this and make it look natural because AI is not always the best at giving in-between frames.
The last and IMO most egregious, generating backgrounds from photos. Yeah, you're getting from AI assisting and correction to AI generation, and that's not something a lot of people can tolerate.
Actually, people are incredibly hostile with the topic of AI in general. I'm personally still open-minded in how the industry can implement it, and by open-minded, I mean I want to see the industry colossally screws up their AI implementation so much that they finally wake up from it and realize that this is a terrible idea.
But at the same time, I am also open-minded to AI actually improving the industry and making thing easier, more efficient, more streamlined, and requiring less work while creating more and better results, but that's just the optimistic side of me speaking, and it will no doubt be crushed by the amount of doofuses using AI in the worst possible ways.
