Tolkien's Nightmare - The Exploitation of Middle Earth
27An article at Screen Rant suggests that the new film deal with Warner Brothers, New Line Cinema and The Embracer Group to create a new series of films set in Middle Earth is an exploitation of the franchise that Tolkien would have considered to be a nightmare scenario.
I'd like to discuss this, because I think the conversation is much deeper, especially given that Tolkien grew up in a time before technology as we know it now, and I wonder if he would have remained a Luddite or would he have embraced adaptations in the way that Stephen King or Brandon Sanderson have done with their literary properties?
