According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tom Hank's is set to play "Major Matt Mason," the lead role in a 3D movie about a 1960's astronaut. If you think the character's name sounds familiar, you may have played with Hank's character as a child, as Major Matt Mason is in fact inspired by the Mattel toy!
We all know Tom Hanks is no rookie to the world of toys, or an astronaut for that matter! Hanks made his action figure debut as Woody, from Toy Story and also starred in Apollo 13 back in 1995.
This will be Playtone's second 3D flick, following the 2005 documentary, Magnificent Desolation, which Tom Hanks narrated and co-produced.
