I was bound and determined to keep 60fps in Tomb Raider 2013, even if I had to overclock my card an inch at a time.

First a note: I have this game on Xbox One, and other than the 30fps frame rate, it's an impressive port. Especially considering how underpowered the Xbox One is.

On the PC, my GTX 970 can run this game at 60fps, but it has to cut down on some of the effects to KEEP the game at 60fps. Also, let me say this: Tomb Raider 2013 is one of those games where 50fps is not "as good" as 60fps. Some of you will know what I'm talking about. The games that have to work hard for 50fps usually don't really feel and look like they're almost to 60fps. You can tell the difference when they pass that 60fps threshold. (and keep in mind that 10fps is a 20 PERCENT DIFFERENCE in frame rate performance.

So... In this video, I am still not at max settings. Shadows are on "normal" instead of "high". And Tessellation is off.

Another note: The game will throw my monitor an "out of range" message, if I try to turn Tessellation on. I don't know if it's a problem with all GTX 970's, but it is a problem for me. I can't even play the game with Tessellation on.

Outside of bumping shadows down a notch and nixing Tessellation, the game is at otherwise max settings. (including Tress FX)

I didn't mean to make the video so long, but I kept running into parts that I wanted to demo. (this was the first run where my overclock stayed stable, and the game kept 60fps) (yes, it dips below 60fps a lot of times, but it stays above the threshold that makes it look and feel 60fps)

What's interesting is that I could play the game with VSynch off, and it held up so well.

I had to squeak this victory out.
