GTA V is BEAUTIFUL with a GTX 970
I was worried that my GTX 970 wasn't going to be able to hang with GTA V, but it can run the game at "max" settings and hold a stable 60fps at 1080p. This video is a night time joyride from sunset to dark, and then a trip to the pier to ride the roller coaster. I muted the music at one point, because I realized the game was intent on playing a song, and I do not want a copyright violation. (as it is, I've set the vehicles to have no music as I drive)
"Max" settings is in quotes for the following reason:
With the exception of AntiAliasing and Soft Shadows, all of the "normal" settings are maxed out. I can run any of the shadow settings from the Soft Shadow selector and still maintain 60fps, but the setting I chose looked the best to me on my monitor. Also, I chose MSAA x 2, but MSAA x 4 still held pretty close to 60fps, but I liked how MSAA x 2 looked better.
There are some advanced graphics options to choose from, and from what I can tell, they're not the standard graphics options. (they seem to affect things like texture and shadow draw distance)
Still, even with all of that said, I bumped up some of those draw distances, and the GTX 970 performs surprisingly well. Hopefully Rockstar and Nvidia leave well enough alone and don't release any updates that break the current level of performance.
