Some Nintendo GameCube controller adapters are known to work with the PLAYSTATION®3 console, such as the MayFlash and the RedGo brands. In the PlayStation® and NINTENDO®64 versions of TONY HAWK'S PRO SKATER 3, remapping of the shoulder buttons can be done; in this case, I mapped Nollies (which I barely use) to L1 and Switches to R1. Sometimes the default controls get used in the PSX version if a visit to the 1P/2P Controls menu doesn't happen upon booting the game. Normally the glitch is corrected when entering a level, then soft-resetting to the main menu.

In this case, GCN L is mapped to PS3 L1, GCN R is mapped to PS3 R1, GCN Z is mapped to PS3 R2, Y to Triangle, A to Cross, B to Circle and X to Square. I assigned the Square/X tricks to grabs and Circle/B tricks to flips to accomodate the Nintendo GameCube™ controller.
