Other than getting back on track, there's not really much to say about the episode other than this... I have been very busy. For the past week, I had projects, and exams non-stop (I spent whole days working on them). I was so occupied, I wasn't able to edit, or record, or update my channel art. I still won't be able to for this week until Thursday, and I hope that's a good thing. I should have a fresh, clear mind before I get back, as I noticed that my commentary was subpar, or worse than I normally would provide (I am not saying I am a good commentator either... I am PRACTICING in the midst). I am bringing this up not because I was absent, but because I noticed that this episode is probably the best episode commentary wise. My voice sounded clear to me, and the explanations were enunciated better, despite a couple mistakes I have made like the Pectoralis' anatomy error. It's not pitch perfect, but I hope I can keep this up with later sessions, because this piece is a prime example of what I want to change from the Last Month of Toontown; explanations, and analysis. I want to keep up with the action of the game with my lips, yet this is hard to do. My speech capabilities are fine, it's just not strong enough to match my expectations yet. Does it sound silly if I say "talking to yourself is hard?" My old friend Zack (ZattexGaming, or Zattex or whatever) discontinued one of his old let's plays in January of this year. This is because he would cringe to his old commentary (he was prepubescent child when he did his let's plays, so I can't blame him), and I could see his from standpoint. He stated in a video that "talking to yourself is hard," so you see; it's definitely not a silly thing to say. But what is funny however, is that Zack is now a complete edgelord, and he became even more cringey than his let's play commentary ever will be. That aside, the life of let's plays come from the commentator, and most of the time, they're accomplished live. It's very hard. Newer LPers sometimes feel insecure while commentating. This doesn't mean they're a sheepish person, this means they're nervous because they're essentially presenting a speech to a large crowd [by themselves] from up to five hours straight. It's that pressure that gives them the impression that they aren't good enough, that once it's over, they're not returning to speak again... they're done. It's awfully demotivational, and it's extremely stressful. However, that is one of the biggest mistakes they make. They leave their let's plays hanging, and never give themselves time to improve. I am no expert in let's plays, but I am able to talk about this, because I find myself in this dilemma myself. I only have one let's play, and I did it over a year ago. I too, am a novice let's player. Like Zack, I sometimes cringe to my own commentary at times. Often times, I'm quiet, sometimes I stutter, I don't explain well... so what's it like to watch yourself fail? At any time, I could throw the towel, call it quits... but I won't. I am not stopping here, I am not leaving my let's play to rot, and I am not restarting. If I did these, I would be making that mistake. Even if I made errors, I look up to my OWN let's plays to find areas I need to improve in. If I don't spend time looking into my flaws, and seeing how I can make things better, then again, I would be making that mistake. Scrapping my projects would remove evidence of my improvement. I would be blind of my own growth, or decay if I don't examine the footage. It may be hard but I have fun doing the Rewritten Let's play, and I am committed to it too. I want to develop, and improve my commentary, and I have a backbone (what I have done), and the ground rules to follow (what I need to do), to reach my goal. So far, this seems to be the case. In the future, I hope that I can commentate better, and I hope that I can provide a lot better content as I stated here, and in the Labor Day Update video. Tomorrow, I'll be uploading a video on an old series that never made it on Youtube. :)
