The vast majority of board games have at least some form of lore and background info to "set the scene". Let's face it, though, there's some that go a lot heavier and further than others. Let's dive in and talk about those that go big! Also, I meant to say RuneBOUND, not Scape - my bad!

If you've seen my stuff before, you're probably aware that I am a big fan of stories and storytelling mechanics in games. Obviously some do this better than others, and in this case we're talking about games that have a solid amount of story behind them - the setting, characters, cities, etc. In addition, this meant that I wanted to avoid some of the obvious choices that'd be based on existing IPs with a large "external" story already.

As always, I want to hear what you all have to say! Is internal lore and context something that you tend to care about when looking at a game? Is having a basic context to frame the mechanics enough? Let me know in the comments!
