I just got the new prototype called Impulse of annihilation for free, from the twilight lands and since I have some 2 pieces of Universal Crystal, I can upgrade to level 3.
This prototype is an enhanced pain rune and in my opinion, this is the best and top tier dominator prototype in the game. I would suggest prioritizing this prototype as much as possible because of its versatility in which both vanguards and assassins can use this item.
At level 3, its description says that when allied assassin or vanguard hero loses their shield, that shield explodes and inflict AOE damage equal to 55% of the shield strength to enemies within a small radius and stun them for 2 seconds and gains 8% damage amplification for 5 seconds and this effect cannot stack.
While the level 6 Painrune only gives +50% AOE shield damage.
The best characteristics of this prototype over Painrune is the damage Amplification which can reach upto 20%, the enhanced shield explosion that can reach upto 60% and the extra stat bonus that it gives.
I have here some PVP trial samples in which this impulse of annihilation at level 3 with 8% damage amplification and 5% shield extra bonus, can be very devastating. I will just use handicapped heroes for this test and I found out that damage amplification works together with shield explosion, or any damage that was released by the heroes are affected by damage amplification.
Barrog in HP build with 150 to 200 accuracy works as a disruptor that destroys heroes formation and stuns them. Also it stuns enemies more frequently and disables them from casting their skills and when Barrog loses his shield, he can inflict decent damage even though he is using HP gears.
Those Bleed, Attack increase passive skills and active attack skills are just secondary damage. The main damage of Barrog comes from his HP and most probably, Barrog won't deal much damage if used outside the Pain Rune or Impulse of Annihilation prototype.
I have here another pvp sample in which my guildmate also uses the impulse of annihilation together with vanguards and assassins. And if you want to have a strong team with Barrog, I would suggest getting this +1 all skill Barrog on Hagradon. This will slightly increase his damage on all his skills, especially his bonus attack on his passive skill called fury on the ent. Higher HP gives him a higher bonus attack and if Barrog has 3.2million HP at level 4 Fury of the Ent, it gives 70k passive bonus attack.
3,200,000 x 2.2% = 70,400 atk (passive bonus).
Survivability and Damage dealt are the key, and Barrog and the impulse of annihilation works best together.
To those who have level 5 or level 6 Impulse of Annihilation, you can try this Barrog in Surge Set and still in Full HP main stats with at least 100 total accuracy or 150 accuracy or more much better. I think, 30% AOE damage from Surge and the 20% damage amplification from the impulse prototype stacks together because I tested it and there is a significant difference with other equipment.
