Things get a bit more familiar in the sub caverns, Total Chaos's side of the familiar I mean. Lots of dark dilapidated underground structures and light shortages. Plenty of monsters to go around, too!

Good thing we got flashlights this time around, I can't imagine what'd it be like if I was stuck with only the flares. I suppose with the Director's Cut recent beta release, I could fix up the TC Replacer to include the new stuff in those and maybe add more flares randomspawns to kick out the flashlight users. I'll wait until the beta's done to properly do that.
