5The Strix G15 G512LU is the affordable laptop of the ROG series. Given its specifications and design, this laptop is not too different from other similar budget gaming laptops. The Intel Core i7-10750H and the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660Ti are a fairly standard configuration for decent 1080p gaming. For those with a little bit more money, they can opt for the RTX 2060, which is not that far off from the GTX 1660Ti but gives users RTX-only features. But specs alone are not the whole story. When you see the Asus ROG Strix G15 unit in person, that is when you realise that Asus packed quite a few surprises ...
First, it is impossible not to notice the Asus G15's RGB lighting scheme. And is not just the keyboard, otherwise well-built and reliable, that wallows in light. The chassis also features an RGB LED strip that makes sure everybody notices your notebook! Aside from that, a 144Hz display is an unusual "sight" in this price range and so is the wide selection of peripheral ports. The laptop's aesthetic features and its solid performance would make the Strix G15 a fantastic choice. Unfortunately, this model is marred by the display's low colour coverage, a lack of a webcam and Numpad and disappointing battery life. If you can get past that though, the Strix remains a solid choice.
